Puthiya Niyamam starring Mammootty and Nayantara is the latest directorial attempt of A K Sajan. After the disastrous Asuravithu he took his own time retrieving from movie world and focused on nurturing a story inside him. He has been chiseling the story that took birth inside him. His effort and the time he took in doing so can be evidently seen in the movie. Puthiya Niyamam is successful to keep people engaged and will serve the purpose of a thriller movie. Negative aspect of Puthiya Niyamam is the comedy in the first half it is not that enjoyable through out the first half.
“The world is not just for successful husband it is also for those who are not “ This dialogue inside the trailer might give an audience a fake picture about the movie. But Puthiya Niyamam is nothing that the trailer showed us. That is the most exciting thing about this movie. The shocking surprise that Puthiya Niyamam has installed in it for the audience is immense, The trailer was a perfect decoy for the covering the thrilling story this movie have.
Louis Pothen (Mammootty) is an advocate and he has a beautiful family, His wife Vasuki Iyer (Nayantara) and a daughter. All of them were living in harmony until one day. Vasuki started showing a drastic change in her character. What is that and what happens after Vasuki’s shocking change is rest of the story.
As usual Mammootty and Nayantara has showed their talents with so much ease. Both the roles were safe inside their hands. S N Swamy and Pradeep Kottayam has also done their part well. Aju Varghese and Geenu Varghese was OK too.
Vinu Thomas is the music director of Puthiya Niyamam. His songs were good and appropriate for the movie. Gopi Sunder has scored the BGM of this movie. If we exclude some of the unwanted back ground score his work for this movie is also commendable.
DOP Roby Varghese Raj has done an excellent job for this movie. Editing by Vivek Harshan was crisp. Audio section of the movie has uplifted the mood of the movie a lot.
A good and engaging thriller from AK Sajan.
