Have declared him as one-man industry.

He bagged the BFJA Award for his debutant performance as a child actor in his very first film “Chotto Jiggyasa” directed by Jagannath Chattopadhyay and produced by his father.

His second movie Bimal Roy’s “Duti Pata” was a major hit- new look and packaging in Bengali cinema took forward in Amar Sangee

With Sujit Guha’s “Amar Sangee” he became Tollywood’s chocolate hero -75 weeks running – turnaround point of Bengali cinema

To his credit goes the title of having worked (in Bengali cinema) with the maximum number of Bollywood heroines.

His first film as a director was “Purushottam” in Bengali

Further he has produced short features and TV serial “Tritiya Purush”.

He also played the lead role in four Hindi feature films directed by Lekh Tandon, David Dhawan, Mehul Kumar & Shibu Mitra.

He has record of 22 releases in a single year, 2004. His average yearly releases were 18-19.

His best year was 2004 - all his films were blockbusters.

While discussing the casting for Saathi with director Haranath Chakravarty, Prosenjt pointed out that the script needed a hero much younger than he was. Chakraborty penciled newcomer Jeet and he became a star overnight.

When he was shooting for Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s Swapner Din in Bolpur, shooting had to be held up for three days and three nights because of the crowds that continued to flood from neighbouring villages for a glimpse of their hero Posenjit as they call him. Buddhadeb Dasgupta was shocked when we went location shooting Bolpur for Swapner Din. They were everywhere - on rooftops, across rough roads, on top of trees, underneath trees, atop rickshaws and buses.

The average hit rate of his films is around 75% -80% over the past ten years

Prosenjit is also a gifted singer though till date, he has blocked every attempt every director has made to lend his voice to his film.

People in the industry who molly-coddled him when, as a little boy, he went with his father to the studios, turned a cold shoulder when he went asking them for roles as a grown-up man.

Over his career, he has acted with some top actresses of Bollywood such as Vijayeta, Aishwarya Rai, Juhi Chawla, Moneesha Koirala, Konkona Sen, Raima Sen, Riya Sen Bipasha Basu,Sameera Reddy and many more.

He hates terms like ‘megastar’, ‘super-hero’, ‘saviour’ used randomly as adjectives or pronouns with, or for his name and insists that they are all media-hype created without his knowledge or consent.

He had the opportunity of visiting Cannes for the screening of Chokher Bali and was thrilled to walk the red carpet.

He rates Debasree Roy as the most talented actress he has worked with till date.

He constantly experiments with his look for every film never mind the banner ; for Sangharsha, he had seven different get-ups.

His 2 noted movies Autograph and Moner Manush released in 2010 did wonders in the heart of millions. Both were his landmark films.

He finds it easier to portray the flesh-and-blood characters he did in Swapner Din, Chokher Bali, Utsab, The Last Lear, Dosar and Shob Charitra Kalponik than the larger-than-life exaggerations he does for commercial cinema.

He launched ZEE Bangla channel at Calcutta in the year 1994 on behalf of Zee Network at the time when there was not even a single Bengali satellite channel existing except Doordarshan. It was a major success.
